The National Scene-The Sunday Political Talk Show Report on 10/4/15

He’s BAAAAACK. He’s an Astronaut, he gets paid to take away our guns, he’s on a roll with this Oregon thing, how can we make him go away? And OMG Elizabeth Warren DARES you, DARES you I say, to take away her right to an abortion. Much more snark, gossip and free opinion.

The FreeRepublic Sunday Talk Show Thread

Fox News Sunday-Introducint Jason Chaffetz

delritesundaypolichaffetz10.4.15There is an argument on the FreeRepublic Sunday Talk show thread over the words used by Chairman of the Oversight Committee in America’s House-Jason Chaffetz.

For it was on Fox News Sunday that Chaffetz stated his intention to run for Speaker of the House and I’m finally clear on the big error committed by the once assured contender for Speaker-Kevin McCarthy.

One commenter alleged that Chaffetz described his idealogical leanings as able to connect between the “centrists” and the “far right” Other commenters said Chaffetz asserted that he said “right wing” as opposed to “far right”.

Whatever the case, and I did rewind my DVR and at one point Chaffetz said “far right” but he could have mentioned “right wing” at another point.

Here’s the thing…..let me take a deep breath. We need to define these terms people. Because some people consider “Tea Party” as those perverted souls in the movie Deliverance determined to rape us politically and have us snort like a pig while doing so.

I suspect, sadly so, that these “Whacko birds” and “Nutjob” terms tossed off so cavalierly by members of the elected political elite, refer to people much like yon reader and myself, average folks just trying to pursue happiness without strangulation by taxes, laws and crime.

Kevin McCarthy cannot garner the 218 votes needed to elect a Speaker of the House though he can, as Chaffetz asserts, can get over 200 of the votes.

There are big problems with MCCarthy, read “My Take” for more on this.

Meet the Press

It was the Round Table, that conglomerate of various pundits these Sunday political talk shows have on every show, that was the shining star of this week’s Meet the Press.

One new name was thrown in the ring for the vacant Speaker of the House job was Jim Jordan, head of a so-called “Freedom Caucus”.

Also got a good insight into Kevin McCarthy’s big gaffe as concerns Trey Gowdy and the Benghazi committee. Seems McCarthy was being interviewed by Sean Hannity and was asked what House Republicans have achieved of late. McCarthy said the Benghazi committee has driven down Hillary’s popularity ratings.

The next day, without a single pause, the Clinton campaign comes out and declares the Benghazi nothing but a big political witch hunt, look here, even the House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy says so!

What a dumb thing to say and this is why McCarthy, no matter how much he says he didn’t mean his comment like that…..this is just one reason why the guy should NOT be Speaker of the House.

Full Measure with Sharyl Atkisson

This is a new political Sunday talk show which I will be covering from now on. Information provided for yon reader info below.

delritesundaypoliwatchatkisson10.4.15

It was on this show that the best interview of Donald Trump took place, with The Donald responding NONE to a question of how many Syrians America should welcome. Trump pointed out that most of these refugees, oddly, are young men of soldier age. Bear in mind, yon ladies and gems, that Delaware Governor Markell thinks Delaware could take in a few of these thugs….oops….”refugees”.

This Week-Donald Trump Again

George Stephanopoulos interviewed The Donald and it was pretty good.
I am pleased that Greta Van Susteren is a member of this show’s Sunday round table.
State of the Union-Two of the Best Guests This Week

Depending, of course, on your definition of “best”.

Because first we had Mark Kelly, husband of congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and paid to go out and champion the taking of our guns, just my suspicion cause beyond his wife getting shot, what makes him an expert on guns?

The guy actually said, and I heard it with my lying ears, that those places that have the strictest gun control laws are the safest.

MAJOR FAIL!

This is so not true. New York has very strict gun control. Chicago, Obama’s home town, has strict gun control laws.delritesundaypolikellyguncontrol10.4.15 These places have the highest crime rate in America but it’s mostly black on black crimes and in this case, black lives don’t seem to matter.

Lord this man is the epitome of gun control slobber nuts that I despise. He gets paid, either by publicity or actual cash, to tout taking away my gun and he’s a nothing burger of a nothing burger.

GRRRRRRR.

And next, well we have Senator Elizabeth Warren from the great state of Massachusetts.

Goodness this woman defended Planned Parenthood within an inch of her life and frankly she scared me with her vengeance.

“All over the country,” she told us,” “Planned Parenthood helps young women with women’s health issues, contraception and I dare say, abortion”.

Then the woman, well as I saw it, she actually clenched her teeth.

“And if the Republicans DARE, if they DARE, to force into back alleys or suicides because of a pregnancy we just can’t handle, watch us fight back.”

Whew.

Well I’ll give Warren this, she’s good at it, waaaaay better than Hillary. My Take on this Warren commentary might shock yon readers.

My Take

So we hear that Kevin McCarthy is deeply involved, romantically, with North Carolina Representative Renee Elmers.

Another reason why he shouldn’t be speaker.

Of course lots of talk about gun control due to the shootings in Oregon. And most of the talk going nowhere because us Tea Party Americans are just not going to stand still and let them take our guns, NOT going to happen folks….take our guns cause some nut job, dreaming of ISIS or Black Lives Matter, get a gun and shoot up a bunch of people in a GUN FREE ZONE.

Now, during Elizabeth Warren’s little rant on any dare to make abortion illegal, I’m going to admit something here.

I agree with her.

I don’t think abortion should be made illegal and further, I’d say for the very reason Warren states. If a woman gets pregnant and it’s not the right time….often they are driven to actions that are drastic. I had an Aunt who died from a back alley abortion, tragic.

But of course I think abortion is murder. Most of us do, in some form or fashion. I’d even assert that most women finding themselves suddenly and surprisingly pregnant, would not even think of aborting their unborn child if only the baby’s father would part his arms around her, vow to marry her, and vow to raise their child with her.

But hey, I’m a hopeless romantic.

The problem is, and this is why women get passionate about this topic, is that in the case of an unplanned pregnancy it is the WOMAN who has all the agony.

I know, I know, mileage varies greatly on this issue. But trust me, Elizabeth Warren’s passion on the matter is shared by many women and politicians of every idealogy should be paying attention.

And why is Elizabeth Warren suddenly popping up on the Sunday talk shows? Could be to replace the floundering Hillary campaign?

I’m jus’ sayin’.

I do not respond to comments on my posts. I certainly have no problem with such commentary and, indeed, encourage it. But I’ve written my piece and I don’t want to argue it further.

  1. Mitch Crane says:

New York City neither has the highest crime rate in America, not the highest murder rate. NYC does not even make the top 100 in either category. As a matter of fact, the number of murders committed in New York City dropped from a high of 2000 in 1990. to 300 in 2014. Cities with the highest murder rate are in many cases in states with the least gun control. The top 30 are below, with #1 being the city with the highest murder rate.

  2. delacrat says:

“Conservatives” don’t want to conserve lives, they want to conserve guns.

  3. Creeper says:

    Mitch,

Pack sand with your gun control nonsense. People kill people, not objects.

  4. Mitch Crane says:

Yo “Creeper’ ( appropriate name BTW), just posting statistics. I would love to know how people ‘kill objects’.

  5. delacrat says:

    Mitch,

I think Creeper is trying to say: “guns don’t kill people, gun owners kill people.”

  6. mouse says:

Please cite where anyone of these people from the POTUS to Kelly have suggested taking away your guns? This is a straw man argument. No wonder you people so hate and fear education. Educated people with a college level course in logic/critical analysis can see through the bullshit you people spew.

  7. mouse says:

You people with your sociopathic selfish paranoid care only that you have the power to kill. You could give a damn when children in a school are butchered by your beloved implements of death.

  8. Fish Bites says:

“he’s a nothing burger of a nothing burger.”

I agree, Pat. Who does this person think he is?

“In December 1987, Kelly became a Naval Aviator and received initial training on the A-6E Intruder attack aircraft. He was then assigned to Attack Squadron 115 (VA-115) in Atsugi, Japan, and made two deployments to the Persian Gulf on the aircraft carrier USS Midway, flying 39 combat missions in Operation Desert Storm. After receiving his master’s degree he attended the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School from June 1993 to June 1994. He has logged more than 5,000 hours in more than 50 different aircraft and has over 375 carrier landings.

He is the recipient of the following awards: two Defense Superior Service Medals; four Air Medals (two individual/two strike flight) with Combat “V”; one Legion of Merit; one Distinguished Flying Cross; two Navy Commendation Medals, one with combat “V”); one Navy Achievement Medal; two Southwest Asia Service Medals; one Navy Expeditionary Medal; two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons; and an Overseas Service Ribbon.”

39 combat missions? Oh, I see, killing people is okay, but only when he’s doing it.
