GOP Response To Kent County Recorder Of Deeds Recount
NEWARK, DE — The Chairman of the Delaware Republican Party this afternoon issued the following statement regarding the recount in the race for Kent County Recorder of Deeds:”Democracy won today in the Kent County Superior Court. Following a recount of the absentee ballots in the race for Kent County Recorder of Deeds, Judge Robert Young ruled that this race is, at present, a tie. There is still one ballot in question that Republicans intend to challenge.

“During this afternoon’s recount Judge Young ruled that the ballot in question should be given to the Democratic candidate. While we respect Judge Young, we disagree with his decision, and feel the there is no clear way to gage voter intent based on the markings on the ballot.

“The Republican Party stands with Lamar Gunn as this case moves through the judicial system, and we are confident that he will be declared the victor.

  1. Janice Stevenson says:

Gunn has made personal vindictive accusations against his opponent which are unprofessional and unbecoming. The Recorder of Deeds is a clerk who has no control over fraudulent documents which appear OK on their face. The Republican Party needs to think carefully before supporting him again.
