The National Scene-The Sunday Political Talk Show Report on 4/26/15

Most notable Sunday political talk show guest this week is the one who was NOT there. The Bruce Jenner “hero”, Maryland’s Elijah Cummins is glad the feds are on the job in Baltimore. Much more.

FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Peter Schweizer, author of a book about the Clinton family foundation.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Gov. Asa Hutchinson, R-Ark.; David Boies and Ted Olson, the lawyers who argued before the Supreme Court for overturning a California proposition that banned same-sex marriage.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Gov. John Kasich, R-Ohio; New York Police Commissioner William Bratton and the deputy commissioner for intelligence and counterterrorism, John Miller; Evan Wolfson, president of Freedom to Marry; Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Schweizer; Rep. John Delaney, D-Md.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Kasich; Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

This Week’s FreeRepublic Sunday Political Show Thread

This Week with George Stephanopoulos

peterschweizer“Clinton Cash” author Peter Schweizer was on this Sunday political talk show as well as Fox News Sunday.

In both shows he was a very successful guest, both interesting and with a tone of honesty.

On This Week, however, we had, as a host, George Stephanopoulos, a former Clinton spokesnoid and George did, indeed, argue with a passion with Schweizer.

To be fair Stephanopoulos gave Schweizer plenty of time to make his argument and debate he did.

Schweizer bandied perfectly with Stephanopoulos and met every challenge head on.

The meme of the day for the Clinton defenders was “There is no evidence that donations to the Clinton foundation influenced Secretary Clinton’s vote,” and Stephanopoulos must have practiced this chorus all night.

It was on This Week tat viewers were treated to snippets of the famous Bruce Jenner interview by Diane Sawyer.

We should be discussing this nut case on the Sunday political talk show circuit? We should be discussing his “heroism”?

Read my take on Bruce Jenner’s publicity trip under My Take.

This Week did have the absolute best guest of the week in the form of Newt Gingrich. I loved Newt’s firm but common sense word. He used the word “Bribery” and he said that any jury on earth would convict the Clintons based on the evidence.

Meet the Press-

The most interesting part of Meet the Press was the discussion between the two famous lawyers, David Boies and Ted Olson. Both of these famous legal guys argued that the Supreme Court will rule FOR same sex marriage as a protected right.

When asked why multiple-partner marriages would not be next both lawyers reasoned that sexual preference is an inborn instinct while choices can be made as concerns multiple marriage.

Well it was inborn that I loved my dog so why can’t I marry my dog. I LOVE my dog.

Fox News Sunday

Lanny Davis wins the award for Clinton sycophant of the week but it was close between Stephanopoulos and him.

Lanny, as best as one could, defended the Clintons by evading the truth, accusing the Republicans and beginning yet another vast right wing conspiracy going after the poor, mistreated Clintons.

Face the Nation

Last week Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer interviews Marco Rubio and asks him a most intriguing question. Rubio has thrown his hat in the ring to seek a Republican presidential nominee and Schieffer asked him if he (Rubio) thought that homosexuals have a choice or were they born that way.

This week the two lawyers on Meet the Press assert that the Supreme Court will probably rule that homosexuality is not a choice.

I think Schieffer was trying to bait Rubio like Stephanopoulos did Romney the night he asked about contraceptives and women’s health. This began a “war on women” meme and now we will have a “war on homosexuals” had Rubio said he thought such sexual preferences were a choice and not inborn.

At least that’s my theory and I’m right about as often as Dick Morris.

State Senator Elijah Cummings was also on Face the Nation being questioned about that mess in Baltimore. Cummings spoke out of both sides of his mouth like they all do but he did say something interesting.

Cummings said he was so so so so very glad that the feds were on the job and investigating the Baltimore city Police department.

What an awful thing to be glad about. I was once married to a Baltimore city police officer; they’ve got one of the toughest jobs on the planet and now their state senator has deserted them.

CNN’s State of the Union

Senator John McCain does manage to get his face out there and on State of the Union, the sludge of the Sunday talk shows, McCain got all kinds of stupid questions about whether he’d be Lindsay Graham’s VP selection, as if that would work.

The most interesting thing about McCain’s discussion was his argument, and it was a good one, that the Department of Defense should be handling drone strikes, NOT THE CIA, as is currently done.

I didn’t know the CIA was in charge of drone strikes and I agree with McCain. Killing the enemy, however it’s done, is the job of the Department of Defense. Our army is commanded by the people via their elected president.

Not sure who the CIA takes its orders from.

My take

Hillary Clinton, the focus of all the political news this week, showed her face nowhere this Sunday. I think that’s very telling.

Well what could she say except it’s all a Republican plot and, repeat after me, there is no evidence that my decisions were influenced by donations to the Clinton foundation.
Well what evidence could there be except….hey, she got a couple of million from the Russians for an American uranium mine and the deal was approved by the State Department. THAT’S EVIDENCE!

Doesn’t make her guilty but its evidence. The public jury will likely find her guilty but goodness, seems Hillary just does not want to talk about it, huh?

Now about Bruce Jenner….

First, he was married to that Kardashian woman….queen of publicity. He’s a former Olympic medal winner, his picture was on a box of Wheaties for God’s sake.

He asserts he’s a Conservative Republican and boom. We have the perfect hero to lead us minion who think that God made you what you are and it’s tough if you don’t like it.

Now I don’t have anything against folks like Jenner spending their own money to follow a lunatic quest to become another sex. But this is all leading up to free surgery and care for any of us suffering by being born in the wrong body.

With the Kardashians to orchestrate the PR….what could go wrong?

Finally, about John Kasich. I note there was a lot of talk around Kasich and his bid for a Republican presidential nomination. Not that such chat isn’t fodder for the Sunday political talk shows but it wasn’t Jeb getting all the chatter. Nor Rubio. No Rand.

It was one of their own, their beloved TV host John Kasich, and they want to help him along.

It’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

And I bet you love pizza
    and your grand daughter
    and your state and county
    and your country
and the birds and the bees, and purple mountains majesty above the fruited plain.

As to why you can’t marry your dog, I suppose you could try and ponder that for a bit. Or you can change the way you write sorta like starting the car before you put it in gear.

As flawed as candidate as Clinton his, the GOP is driving in the clown car with candidates who have nothing to offter for average people except appealing to their irrational resentments and fears. Their only hope is to smear Clinton since they have no real issues to present.

Got something to say? Go for it!
