Where Are All The Leaders?

leader   First of all, what is a leader?   Well in my view, a leader is someone who does not wait in the shadows to decide which way the wind will blow. A leader is someone who does something, not because it is popular, or personally profitable, but does it despite it being unpopular, and personally costly. They do it, because it is the right thing to do.

A leader will see what is needed, and will take the lead, that’s right, sometimes a leader must lead.

A leader will take on the difficult task, a leader will not ask others to do that which they would not do themselves. A leader understands, sometimes you have to stick your chin out, even though you know you are going to get clobbered.

A leader is someone who has shown integrity in their lives, and their word is their capital.

A leader does not seek out followers, for people will naturally follow true leaders.

Leaders come in all sizes, ages, colors, men and women, these things do not define a true leader, what defines a true leader, is their ability to see what needs to be done, and then do it.

A true leader does not see a problem, and then wait to see if someone else will deal with it, they take the lead.

Leaders are rare as of late, oh, there are plenty of people we call leaders, and people who want to be leaders, but so few actually show leadership. If this nation is to remain the freest in the world, then it will take true leaders willing to be the tip of the spear.

So? Where are all of the leaders?

    Frank,

    Sheep need “leaders”.

Constructive leaders are in short supply, particularly in big government these days. I’d be happy if our government “leaders” were simply better managers. At least they might be more capable of directing services and administering a real budget. Instead the most successful government leaders today are the ones that can attract/hand-out the most money, and I don’t think that is going to change anytime soon.

Also, I don’t think sheep need leaders…sheep need herders. As a human being, I’d prefer a leader over a herder, but I do feel more herded than led these days. Countries, churches, communities, families, activists, sports teams, seal teams, businesses, and the like can all become better with a little constructive guidance from within (i.e. leadership) now and then.

Delacrat, as Bob said, sheep don’t have leaders, they will however follow who ever has the feed bucket.

As our society degrades, we’ll get a “leader.” With luck, it will be another Washington. Or, a historical pattern could be followed- the one that gave the world Alexander the Great, Caligula, William I, Attila, Napoleon, Lenin, Hitler, Tojo and Mao.

Got something to say? Go for it!
