Gotta Be Something!

Jeff_Christopher,_official_photo_0   Like the returning hero in some Hollywood B-movie of the fifties, who was run out of town by the bad guys, “FORMER” sheriff, Jeff Christopher refuses to be, Just Jeff, and has just gotta be something.    But this is no Hollywood B-movie western where the sheriff is run out of town by the bad guys, and then returns to save the town. Though I can only imagine that is the loop that plays over and over again in the minds of Just Jeff and his posse.

No this is more like one of the seventies zombie movies about the walking dead. The reanimated corpses that seem indestructible. They just keep coming back.

It seems that Just Jeff must be something, if he can’t be sheriff, then he has decided to run for the newly available Chairman’s seat in the 35th Representative District for the Republican Party. He is running against Jordan Warfel, Jordan is a long time Republican who has worked on several campaigns, some successfully.

The seat was left vacant following the resignation of Matthew Opaliski, this following his arrest on illegal gun sales.

This is where the funny, becomes bizarre, while Jordan Warfel has been active on many levels within the Republican party, and has actual experience organizing campaigns, and volunteers, Just Jeff has non, other than his own two campaigns, the last one unsuccessful.

There was a meeting of the 35th Election District Chair people last night, these are the people who will vote for the new RD Chair.  The meeting was mostly to see who wanted the job, and to give the EDCs a chance to ask some questions.

I think it important to mention that while this meeting was intended to discuss filling the Chair of the 35th, Rep. Dave Wilson of the 35th, incumbent Republican was not invited or even contacted about the meeting.

There was also in attendance last night, the Chairman, the vice-Chairman, and the so-called Parliamentarian of the Sussex County Executive Committee. Vince Calabro, Fred Silva, and Miguel Pirez-Fabar .

Now one might not think that unusual, to have the county leadership in attendance, except that the county Executive Committee seems to want to dictate the time, date and manner in which elections are held for a local RD. In fact they are even ignoring their own rules to do so.

One of the EDCs suggested that the election could be held last night while they had a quorum, but Mr. Pirez-Fabar spoke up and said that the rules made that impossible, though as the Parliamentarian for the Executive Committee he could not site which section or article he was relying on for that decision. There was heated debate over this to the point another EDC spoke up loudly and stated he didn’t have time for this debate, and that he was only there for the free food. He also made it clear he was a supporter of Just Jeff.

The two candidates were asked about their experience for the job, Jordan Warfel listed his background in helping candidates run campaigns. Just Jeff went into his formulated, oft used, empty rhetoric about God and Country, he spent quite a bit of time and referenced his recently failed campaign for re-election, not sure that is the best qualification for RDC, whose job it is to organize other people’s campaigns.

So some interested, registered Republican voter asked a direct question about the candidate’s ideas for organizing volunteers, and filling empty EDC seats. Mr. Warfel again gave a direct answer, and explained that he would not play politics in filling EDC spots, that if people wanted to work for the party he would nominate them. He also said that it would take every Republican’s help to elect Republicans, and that he would work to build a more unified party, starting in the 35th District.

When Just Jeff attempted to answer the same question he went into his formulated, oft used, empty rhetoric about God and Country, he spent quite a bit of time and referenced his recently failed campaign for re-election, not sure that is the best qualification for RDC, whose job it is to organize other people’s campaigns.

He did mention  how the party needed to attract youth to the party, and suggested going into the schools. Now this was also one of his campaign promises, that he as sheriff would go into schools to teach children about the law and safety. Seems like Just Jeff wants to spend a lot of time in the schools. He also talked about going to the retirement homes, not sure if he meant actual retirement homes, or just the Executive Committee meetings.

The one thing he did not mention, when speaking about expanding the party, was minorities, a glaring omission.

This has to go down in my history of meetings for the GOP, as one of the most interesting, entertaining, and biggest waste of time, for any of the many, many GOP meeting I have attended. Nothing happened, nothing was decided, and no one was elected. This can be laid directly at the feet of the new Executive Committee Chairman Vince Calabro, in my opinion.

While both Fred Silva, and Miguel Pirez-Fabar were actively engaged in the discussion, Mr. Calabro sat quietly like some cheap gangster movie Godfather. He never once gave any input or incite. Now while this may be because he recognizes that this decision should be made at the local level, not the centralized county level, it is important to remember that Mr. Calabro was a major supporter of Just Jeff in his failed campaign for re-election. Even going so far as to throw one of his patented spaghetti dinner fund-raisers. So is this why the county committee is taking control of this local election? Is this an attempt to stack the deck in favor of Just Jeff? Are they hoping that even though Just Jeff couldn’t win an actual election on his own merit, that Mr. Calabro and his fellow travelers can rig this election for Just Jeff? New York Style?

The election is to be held, prior to the regular monthly meeting, March 9th at the CHEER Center in Georgetown. Now there was no specific time given for when the actual election would take place, so good luck to the public who would like to witness the “PROCESS”. Sausage anyone? It will be very interesting to see if they can get a quorum of the 35th EDCs to show up to vote next Monday, since the 35th has a long and embarrassing history of empty seats at the county meetings. Would it not be sweet justice if instead of taking the vote last night when they had the quorum, they wait another week and fail. Well that is the history of the fringe.

So, much like the recent elections held for the Executive Committee positions, this election too will be run by the TEA fringe of the party, with little regard for openness, or concern for the participation of the voters.

This is all we can expect from this element of the GOP.

Well Frank I find it positively intriguing the notion of having Christopher on the Sussex GOP executive board. It will keep you busy for a month of Sundays.

I will be going to the upcoming meeting and I will show up early. they better not have that election before I get a chance to witness.

  2. Frank Knotts says:

Well Pat good luck with that since it sounded as if the election would be held during the or right after the AB meeting.

The new face of the GOP and why they get very few new members or cross over votes

  4. Rick says:

How many Socialist-Democrats hold elective office in Sussex?

So, let’s work on solving a problem that doesn’t exist.

  5. mouse says:

The GOP has had a lot of success in rural areas like Sussex with a lot of angry uneducated religious folk who are mostly getting old and dying off. People who mostly vote their fears and their resentments based in misinformation. Stay glued to talk radio for the answers lol

  6. More to the Point says:

How many Socialist-Democrats hold elective office in Sussex?

How many lying right wing Constitutionalist wannabes like Christopher hold elected office in NCC where 3/4 of Delaware’s population lives? None. Want to know why? Because they see what goes on in Sussex and want no part of it.

Ken Simpler managed to win statewide by keeping the stench of the Christine O’Donnells, Eric Bodenweisers, Vance Phillips’, and Jeff Christophers off of him. THAT is the example the rest of the Republicans in the state need to follow.

SOSSC never learns. They’ll keep the GOP chained to the wall of the basement forever.

  7. Dave says:

I guess Jeff changed his mind about leaving this God forsaken place?

  8. More to the Point says:

Can we just run him out of town on a rail?

  9. Frank Knotts says:

Running him out on a rail may not be that hard considering he seems to have a stick up his backside anyway.

  10. Dave says:

I don’t actually mind him staying. After all people have to live somewhere. I would just be satisfied if his word was his bond. It’s not, but then I think most everyone knew that anyway.

  11. shut the front door says:

There’s no need to look any further than the lawsuit or the primary and general election for county sheriff to see the real El Jeffe. Look up the definition of the phrase teats on a boar hog you’ll see Calabro’s photo.

Yeah, unlike the highly-educated ghetto-dwellers in Little Wilmadelphia. When are they going to throw a party celebrating their “Most Dangerous Cities In America” award? Or, are they too broke to buy potato chips?

  13. JS says:

Maybe he’ll spend some time on this job. Sheriff’s office staff revealed that Lee was in the office more in the first week than JJ was for the last 6 months in office. Would disappear for weeks at a time and have staff drive to his home when there was paperwork that required his signature. His FB page was recently changed to reflect that he was Sussex County Sheriff (Ret) It is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone voted out of office describe it has being retired by the voters.
What hasn’t been reported at all is that Lee, working with County Council between the election and his swearing in, took the necessary steps to have himself and all of his deputies appointed State constables (check out their new badges). On the day that Lee took office he and all the deputies were also sworn in as constables so that, when acting in the course of their employment, they have all the arrest powers as every other law enforcement officer in the state.

Ambition is probably a good and necessary part of the human condition, and everybody strives for some sort of recognition in life. I just think that every so often there are people who will get a taste of the limelight, and it becomes like an addiction to them. Self promotion then becomes all encompassing.
I guess the question is where you draw the line on it.

Kind of like you Frank. You’ve been asked to leave or kicked off of everything you’ve tried to do. The Lesbiman just can’t make it on his own so he must denigrate those who are his betters. That’s one way of making yourself feel good, but it only lasts a few minutes, doesn’t it Frank. You are so evil that even Satan will kick you out of Hell, for picking on the other people residing there. So long fecal breath.

  16. Winston says:

Just another personal attack on on somebody that Frank doesn’t like. What’s happening to comments on this site. It seems that if they disagree with you Frank, they mysteriously disappear.
Can’t you write at all. I know you that can rant and rave, I’ve seen plenty of that at the SCGOP meetings. Thanks for resigning before they canned your idiot arse again.

  17. Frank Knotts says:

Dear Winston, I see that you have learned no new tricks. All you can say is that this or that is a personal attack. So let me attempt to show you the difference.
When I give my opinion of what Just Jeff says at a meeting in which he is asking people to support him, and give my opinion on that, that is commentary.
A personal attack would be if I called someone stupid or uneducated. Or if I pointed out that someone who thought they were dressed up and looking sharp, really looked foolish with their torn seems on their coat.
I hope this will be helpful.
As for removing comments, well I will reference you back to this post http://www.delawareright.com/disagree-when-we-must-agree-when-we-can/
Take notice, the warning was made then. Don’t like it ? Too bad.

How many university educations in that western sussex GOP group? There’s a reason why education, science, universities and educated people are all enermies of the GOP rural right…

  19. mouse says:

We don’t need no stinkin badges

  20. JS says:

We didn’t need a $77,000 frivolous law suit either. When you see how easily the arrest powers were obtained it can only mean that JJ was either stupid or purposely misrepresenting the true goal of the law suit. Did you get a whistle with that Junior Deputy Helper Posse badge?

  21. shut the front door says:

Go take a look at the comment El Jeffe posted on the wanna be alleged candidates page in response to a comment someone made.
Jeff Christopher: “Well what quaifies you Jodi to speak for mainstream or to even say what mainstream is? What you speak of is your opinion and nothing more than your opinion.”candidate wanna be” what is that?? You think a candidate comes from lots of, ignorant of politics, people liking some person who wouldnt know representation if the grill smacked into them. Stop pretending that you know what mainstream is? You sound like that meatball stain Knotts.”

This is the statement of a man seeking the RDC seat for the SCGOP. Replace one man who thinks he’s above the law with another man who thinks the same thing. The SCGOP is truly screwed if Christopher becomes a RDC.

  22. Frank Knotts says:

Also got an honorable mention from the great constitutional scholar Larry Mayo. Living rent free.

  23. Rick says:

How many university educations in that western sussex GOP group? There’s a reason why education, science, universities and educated people are all enermies of the GOP rural right…

Congratulations, Wilmington. Voted “One of the 10 Most Dangerous Cities in America.” All under the tutelage of “educated” Democrats.

Sussex is growing- Wilmington is dying. And unlike Wilmington, we’re not broke. I guess “educated” Democrats aren’t very good at math, either.

  24. mouse says:

I’m an independent. The GOP is a joke. Its full of angry racist rubes ready to fight and battle over evey inane thing possible. The growth and brain power in Sussex is east side..

  25. Rick says:

The growth is county-wide. Try leaving your basement, and drive around.

  26. mouse says:

That’s true, there are a lot of Pay Day Loan businesses in the lower class areas LOL

Got something to say? Go for it!
