Thank You John Brady

brady  John Brady has announced his political retirement.   This is not the latest news, John Brady had announced his political retirement some time ago following his decision to not seek re-election as Clerk of the Peace.

John has had a long and mostly unblemished political career. He has been both a Republican, and a Democrat, and has won elections as both.

John is highly respected for his integrity, and his wealth of knowledge. In his private life he is an attorney and served as the GOP House Attorney at Legislative Hall, and who serves as the unofficial, legal expert for local talk radio. I myself have often described him as encyclopedic, when talking about the law. However his knowledge also ranges to politics, sports and the history of Delaware.

John is the very essence of what it means to be a public servant. John Brady has held several county offices, they include Clerk of the Peace, Recorder of Deeds, and Register in Chancery, an office which he turned the lights out on when he left, fulfilling his promise to do away with an office which had become unnecessary.

Known for his desert dry sense of humor, John is a local personality in Sussex County, and well-known throughout the state of Delaware. He has co-hosted sports shows on local talk radio, has done weekly spots handing out legal advise, complete with a disclaimer that he was not your lawyer.

He has handled, and successfully defended some high-profile cases, earning him both praise, and criticism. But through all, John Brady places the law, and principles uppermost when taking a case.

I am honored to call John Brady my friend, and grateful for some advice he gave me not so long ago.

So it is with some sadness that we say farewell to his political career. But it is also with hopes and prayers that this decision will allow John to be a part of our lives for some time to come. Take a break John, you have earned it. Thank you for your years of public service, and for the honor you brought to government.

Here is a press release for an upcoming event celebrating John’s career, and a chance for Sussex and Delaware to say thank you in person.

The event will be held June 4th, Admission is free. Sponsors are welcome. There will be food and drink. There is a silent auction. It runs 1pm to 3 pm at the Camp Rehoboth community center 35 Baltimore Ave. Rehoboth Beach. You get a chance to talk and roast me. If you can’t make it but want to send a letter or contribute for the memory book send it to PO Box 11 Georgetown DE 19947 everything is appreciated. Proceeds go to pay down the campaign debt from all of my past campaigns. I enjoyed the 14 years in office and 12 years as a legislative attorney, but as I said before it’s time for younger folks to start running for office You will hear stories about my life as a teenager political stories as well as modern stuff Hope to see you there, John

I really like John and especially enjoyed his law radio shows. I believe he was a conscientious office holder, interested primarily in doing his job efficiently and fairly with minimal showboating. A refreshing change from the usual bulls#!t we’ve come to expect from our “public servants.”

  2. Honi Soit says:

Rick can’t say something nice about someone without putting down someone else. It’s in his DNA.

  3. Rick says:

Well, since Trump is a “public servant,” your response is a tacit endorsement.
