The National Scene-The Sunday Political Talk Show Report on 4/19/15

Fox News Sundays Asks most intriguing question of Lindsay Graham and I want to know too. Best, worst and most mediocre of Sunday political talk shows and best looking political female this week.

FreeRepublic Sunday talk show thread 4/19/15

FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Govs. John Kasich, R-Ohio, and Terry McAuliffe, D-Va.; Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.; former Gov. Martin O’Malley, D-Md.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas; Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Sens. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and Ben Cardin, D-Md.; former Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va.; Ali Rezaian, whose brother Jason, a Washington Post correspondent, is jailed in Iran.

So we begin with Fox News Sunday and what was a pretty good interview of Lindsay Graham, self-proclaimed Republican presidential nominee.

Wallace asked Graham if it was because Graham had to raise his younger sister due to the death of his parents that he was not married.

I did not know Lindsay Graham was not married. Guy’s what? In his 50’s? Guy wants to be president, to run for president. We never had a single guy as president.

And why isn’t he married? This is bound to be a question asked or speculated upon often during any campaign he might run.

Wallace asked it and Graham did tell the story of the death of his parents and how, with the “help” of his Aunt and Uncle he raised his sister.

Odd. Just odd.

Sanders-021507-18335- 0004Next up the WORST guest of the day although I’ll allow that Bernie Sanders, Senator from Vermont, who is about as Communist as you can get, expressed himself amiably.

It wasn’t that Sanders’ did so bad in an interview with Wallace. It’s more that the guy’s a creep and now he thinks he should be president.

He’s running against Hillary. I think some of these Democrats coming out of the woodwork are some kind of lesson from Hillary that…..”see what you’ll get if you don’t vote for me?”

Lindsay Graham, who is a Senator from South Carolina, no mind his marital status, opined that the Iran deal will not be approved by the Senate if it does not include inspections, any day, any hour.

We shall see.

On Meet the Press we had John Kasich who announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination nod.

Well not exactly.

Kasich announced his ingrained knowledge that the presidency is not won without taking the state of Ohio. Kasich is from Ohio. Thus he should be the Republican presidential nominee.

I got more on these Republican candidates, including Kasich, later.

There was talk on Meet the Press about that nutty gyrocopter guy who flew his fine self right onto the White House lawn, God bless our Secret Service who do not do their job. Crazy guy wanted campaign finance reform. I think John McCain put him up to it.

Mike Lee, soldier of the Tea Party movement, is promoting a book about our constitution and was interviewed by MTP host Chuck Todd.. Writing a book is the first step towards a presidential run so let’s keep an eye on this guy.

Political Cartoon of the Week

Face the Nation had an interview with Marco Rubio and Rubio gave a good interview, best political talk show interview of the day.

Rubio handled some sharp questions handily and with the sound of truth. He said the immigration debate had to be expanded and explained away his former deflating stance in the gang of eight that came up with some big immigration reform packet the public hated. Rubio said his mistake was not emphasizing that control of the border would be the FIRST order of business before any kind of path to citizenship would be made.

Whatever. The politicos have been promising a secure border for decades so why should we believe them now?

Joe Manchin of West Virginia was on, praising Hillary until I could puke.

The only thing notable about “This Week” with Stephanopoulos was Claire McCaskill. SHE LOOKED TERRIFIC!

This is the kind of insight yon reader would not get with a male writer.

I don’t know if McCaskill went on a crash diet, had a facelift, whatever. I might not agree with her politics but she really looked good.

Finally on State of the Union we had Senator Corker, a Republican.

There’s been a lot of discussion about this deal proposed by Corker that has been analyzed by many in the blogosphere.

The proposal involves changes from the constitution about how many senators should vote FOR the Iranian proposal and how many would be needed to over-ride an Obama veto.

Mark Levin and many others take exception to how this whole thing is not being followed as it constitutionally should.

MY TAKE:

So I’m sitting here kind of mellow and thought I’d share my thoughts on the current crop of presidential/vice-presidential nominees now all coming forward.

I include this “vice-presidential” thing because do not be fooled, they are auditioning for this part, especially one who would be perfect for the job, more on this later.

Okay, the Republican possible/probable contenders: NJ’s Christy, Rubio, Cruz, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorino, John Kasich (who threw in his bid this very Sunday morning), Lindsay Graham, Walker, Mike Huckabee, Donald Trump..

Ted Cruz is going to get the nomination, I predict. Bearing in mind I’m right on predictions about as often as Dick Morris.

I think Carly Fiorino would be a perfect VP choice for any of the guys currently trying to get the nod. I really do.

I know she’s from California, suspect that right there. But she’s bright, speaks well, could be a nod to the nutty GOPe. Meanwhile Carly’s got visions of a presidency in her mind and it’s time, like it of not, for a woman to be president. And it ain’t gonna be Hillary, give me a break.

I like Rubio though he shot himself in the foot with his immigration stance. There’s way more to our immigration issues out here in la-la land than the GOP Blue Blood elite want to try to understand. If he somehow could recover from that gaffe I rather like Rubio.

I mentally have Walker in a tie with Rubio but I dunno, Walker has immigration mumble-mumbles in his past. I’m sticking with a tie between those two in terms of odds.

Donald Trump is a publicity hound, don’t tell me not. John Kasich is seeking a quick and slick VP nomination. Mike Huckabee, hey I really believe this guy got fired from Fox due to his Saturday show not doing too well. To save face they allowed him to say he’s running for President and he HAD to quit the Fox gig.

Christy of NJ could slip into (well he’d need a little grease) a VP slot….I bet Christy imagines himself as a Dick Cheney sort, the scary behind the smile.

I’m saying Lindsay Graham is looking for a VP slot or maybe a gig on Fox news.

As for Jeb Bush…..he’s formidable, I’ve no doubt. He’s got the bucks. If he could somehow get a VP that helped calm the base….well even with that I don’t think he’d make it. But I dunno…a Jeb Bush/Ted Cruz ticket? It’s a stretch but only something like that would have me voting for Jeb Bush.

That’s my take on the Republicans.

Want to me to d the Democrats?

  1. Mitch Crane says:

This is the first you heard Lindsey Graham is unmarried? Why should that surprise me? Of course, rather than using your computer and do a little search, you are fine with demonstrating that you have no knowledge of history, or politics. James Buchanan, the 15th president, was never married. Grover Cleveland was unmarried when he became the 22nd president-becoming the first president to marry in office. Why would Mike Wallace ask such a question, the answer he probably already knew, unless he wanted people like you to think “oh, no! Lindsey Graham may be a homosexual”. Why did Mike Wallace not ever ask Condaleeza Rice why she never married?? Let’s wonder about her sexual orientation. Mother Theresa never married. What does that mean?

Oh— the “nutty gyrocopter’ did not land on the White House lawn, it landed on the groud of the US Capital-which is patrolled by the Capital Police, not the Secret Service.

Bernie Sanders is a “socialist-Democrat” with a a A+ rating from the NRA.

No male commentator could get away with writing about whether or not Claire McCaskill lost weight and got a face lift, or even Chris Christie’s weight.

We should all watch the Sunday TV shows and then read this blog and play a game of “What 7 things from these shows are wrong in the Bizarro World of .Ms Fish?

Got something to say? Go for it!
