With a Picture Worth a Thousand Words, We’ve Got Several Thousand With Pics of Delaware Goings-On. The 11/18/15 Edition

Got a new fish award, the new Acme store and a surprise from the Sussex GOP.

The New Acme

So I went to the new Acme down where SuperFresh used to be off of Route 1.

I thought it kind of pricey but it’s like any other store, you got to shop the deals.

I did buy a hot lunch, a Styrofoam container with two little drumsticks and a couple big scoops of macaroni and cheese. I don’t know what I was thinking because the per pound price of the hot food bar is $7.99!

My little lunch was OVER TEN DOLLARS!

They offered to take it back because no way, nowhere, are two little drum sticks and a cup and a half of mac and cheese worth ten dollars….nowhere.

Donated Defibrillator to Police

Hmmmmm. Looks like a good way to get free medical equipment.

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge One in Wilmington received a donated defibrillator in honor an officer who helped save a fellow officer’s life with the machine.

During the recent Fraternal Order of Police National Conference in Pittsburgh, Corporal Dennis Leahy of the Wilmington Police Department came to the aid of a retired police officer from Montgomery County, Pennsylvania who was suffering from sudden cardiac arrest. Leahy preformed CPR and administered a shock from an on-site defibrillator.

Defibrillator manufacture Heartstine heard about the incident and donated a system to Leahy. The machine will be stationed at the police lodge in Wilmington, which frequently hosts law enforcement meetings.

New Angler award?

A 35-year-old Delaware state fishing record may finally be broken.

According to Lewes Harbor Marina, a 24.8 pound bluefish was caught by Baltimore Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgeon Dr. Luis Mispireta while fishing for sea bass on Monday.

Dr. Mispireta was reportedly reeling in a sea bass aboard the charter boat Katydid when the big bluefish snapped up his catch. The fish was finally reeled in after a “hectic” fight. The catch was verified by a DNREC officer, measuring 43-inches…

NEXT : Some national tidbits and a local color post on area grocery stores. Now that we have the new Acme and everything.

So, I guess you decided you aren’t going to tell us about your court date in the property dispute?

Got something to say? Go for it!
