A local Sussex County businessman is possibly the next Republican candidate to replace John Brady, as Sussex County Clerk of the Peace. I have it from an extremely reliable source, local business man, Gary Chorman, CEO & President of Millman’s Appliances may be the Republican candidate running to fill the Clerk of the Peace position in Sussex.
The election for the seat will be an open one, since the current Clerk of the Peace John Brady has decided not to seek re-election in order to take the appointed position of Chief Deputy in the office of Register of Wills.
And while I have not reached out to Mr. Chorman as of yet, I trust the source, and their opinion of Mr. Chorman.
Time will tell. Feel free to discuss this and any other current issue, like the fact that the Circus is coming to the Eastern shore of Maryland tonight. Trump Mania lands in Berlin for a rally tonight. God save us all.
Rumors are also circulating that Don Oliphant, former Republican candidate for Register of Wills is going to toss his hat in the ring. It’s likely that Don would carry the endorsement of the current Democrat Clerk of the Peace John Brady despite being a Republican.
Some background showing threads between Don Oliphant, Dave Wilson, Cindy Green and John Brady:
Oliphant ran for Register of Wills in the 2002 election and lost to incumbent Howard Clandaniel.
Clandaniel in turn lost to auctioneer Dave Wilson in the 2006 election. In 2008, Wilson resigned after being elected to the General Assembly, where he has been ever since.
Greg Fuller was appointed to complete Wilson’s term as Register of Wills. He ran and lost against Cindy Green in the 2010 election.
In 2014, Wilson accused Green of cronyism and of lacking a strong sense of compassion and service, and he threw his support behind her opponent in the primary. Green prevailed.
In 2016, Green urged County Council members to support Alison Slater, her preference for Chief Deputy to the Registrar of Wills. Council took no action. The Court of Chancery chose John Brady.
And now Oliphant’s name resurfaces as a possible successor to Brady as Clerk of the Peace?
Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.
” endorsement of the current Democrat Clerk of the Peace John Brady despite being a Republican.”
If he did endorse that would tell you a few things.
1. Brady is a professional. Professionals are never partisan.
2. Oliphant may also be a professional whose focus is executing his responsibilities
3. In Sussex County, party counts for nothing. It’s all about who you know and what they think of you.
Just got permission to use my tractor to cut the name TRUMP into the field near my house. It will be the size of a football field….. It’s going to be a great field.

Trump’s rallies are circus-like, but that’s by design. It is known as marketing, and Trump is a master.
New York is a moderate state. Think of Republicans elected to office there; Pataki, King, Gulliani and so on. No right wingers. Yet, Trump garnered way more votes there than Kasich and Cruz combined.
Kasich is another Romney. Weak and vacillating, a finger-in-the-wind career politician. If the GOP “establishment” jams him (or Romney or any of the other “moderate” losers) down our throats at the convention, Hillary is the next president.
FBH: Wow! It would be swell if Trump gets to see your al fresco artwork when he flies on Friday to Harrington in his Cessna jet…you know, the one he’s been flying illegally because of an expired FAA registration.
Is he flying into Harrington International airport?
So FBH is creating his very own “Field of Screams “.
And Rick, New York voted for Trump and Hillary, it’s about home state, more than qualifications.
Yeah, “Field of Screams of Approval”.
About the size of a football field as advertised. Could be a world record possibly.
Is he flying into Harrington International airport?
No, Yoder Field.
Normally my commute to work is mundane, but yesterday I almost spat out my road coffee as I spied a LL for Gov. 2016 yard sign. The first one I have seen, prolly not the last. It was a great distraction during the morning drive, and landed me at work with a smirk on my face.

Each letter will have to be greater than 360 feet in length and 240 feet in width to beat Chris Shotton of Nebraska who for years has used a post-harvest bean field to write “Thank you for our freedom.” Shotton and several dozen helpers line up each letter with string and cover the ground with flour before plowing it. It takes four days to complete. The message is for airmen of the Offutt AF Base.
I didn’t plow it, HS. I used a bush hog, and it maybe took an hour or so, and I’m just joking about the world record part for writing the name “Trump” anyway, which I realize that there is no world record for, although it probably is a world record.
I just looked at the field on Google Maps to get some perspective, and then I just eyed it.
Be careful with the spelling. There is no white out for a field
For the general election, Trump is having a large laser launched into orbit over the United States, which will, from California to Delaware, illuminate the ground with letters about as high as Kansas/Nebraska, “Trump U.S.A..:
The laser can be re-programmed to say “Crooked Hillary” or “1-800-GO CONDO.”
What is Obama thinking? He is over in England telling them that they will have to go to the back of the line on trade deals with the US if they vote to leave the EU.
Then Obama gives the Queen another photo album… like she really wants to flip through pages of his mug again.
The album chronicles her visits with all the U.S. Presidents and First Ladies over the years. There is likely only one of Obama (2009). The rest will be of folks like Reagan and Bush. Now you can rest easy.
He already gave the Queen a photo album on a series of CD’s. Shouldn’t the gift be more substantive. Maybe some cuttings from the Washington cherry trees or some farm animals or a John Deere tractor or something…lol? The guy obviously has issues with Great Britain and England specifically.
Obama does seem to get along with the Royals though. You know, with the whole global warming crusade that they have in common.
The mayor of London doesn’t seem to favor him much though, and from things written in the comment sections of articles. The Brits don’t care for Obama’s remarks concerning the EU, and threats of putting Britain at “the back of the queue” in trade deals with the US.
To be honest I have not examined the ramifications to the US of the U.K. being in or out of the EU to know whether I care or not or whether Obama should care or not.
