The FreeRepublic Sunday Talk Show Thread

Fox News Sunday
5.10.15drbencarsonDr. Ben Carson was the guest on Fox News Sunday and with host Chris Wallace they gave quite an interview. Carson always impresses.

Carson spoke of the Clinton foundation and the shame of it. Good for Ben Carson, a Republican out and shouting about that Bonnie and Clyde couple aiming to get another crack at the White House.

Meet the Press

The best Sunday political talk show guest this week was on Meet the Press. I speak of Carly Fiorina. Wallace asked her abruptly about being fired at Hewlett-Packard.

Here’s MY question to the cackling media thinking this is some kind of big deal….Who hasn’t been fired once or several times in their lifetime? If someone is fired from a job, what? They’re not eligible to be President?

Fiorina worked for Hewlett-Packard for over five years. Come on guys….five years, that’s about the average time for jobs at one company as I surmise. If Fiorina was so bad she wouldn’t have been around for five whole years, get a grip. She did a fine job with some tough questions and I say they hell you say…if you ain’t been fired at least once than you’re not worth hiring.

Since it was Mother’s Day there was a nice segment about mothers. Here’s my question regarding this segment….who the hell died and made Maria Shriver some kind of expert on motherhood?

Finally California’s Diane Feinstein gives the quote of the day. “It takes 30 agents t surveil one ISIS thug.” SHE REALLY SAID THAT!

First….what’s this ‘surveil” thing? I’m thinking she means surveillance but go on she couldn’t have phrased that better? And seriously….30 agents to watch the dopey dumb kid down the street tweet with ISIS that he too may chop off heads?

It was awkwardly phrased and while I have no problem with calling someone a thug, which is what member of ISIS are, but I think the word in this case was used, as always, to draw attention away from the Islamic connection.

This Week with George Stephanopoulos
Homeland Security advisor Jeh Johnson was on and he didn’t talk about anything interesting.

Face the Nation

Mike Huckabee, former Fox News show host and Governor of Arkansas, was the guest on Face the Nation. Huckabee gave a good presentation for himself but there were some stumbles. So much so that journalist Ron Fournier lambasted Huckabee to an almost embarrassing rate. Huckabee was just as dishonest as the Clintons, Fournier told us.

I had to wonder what Fournier had against Huckabee.

CNN State of the Union

5.10.15brettmcgirkSo I finally got to meet the terrorism Czar and I was psyched.

Brett McGurk, deputy special presidential envoy to the coalition to counter the Islamic State group answered questions about, of course, ISIS. He’s a handsome fellow but when all is said and done, he’s just another Czar of this administration what loves Czars.

My Take

It wasn’t all that interesting an afternoon of Sunday political talk shows. The biggest gain was a close introduction to three new Republican presidential candidate wannabes.

We also learned that Ron Fournier really dislikes Mike Huckabee. Weird.

NEXT : Can’t go to Sussex GOP meeting this month, check in with Frank Knotts. Next Sussex county council and soon an update on the Delaware legislature and their shenanigans. Plus big surprise later this week….she sings and writes. She’s a Delaware writer winning all sorts of prizes. She also sings in my choir.

Got something to say? Go for it!
