The FreeRepublic Sunday Talk Show Thread

Overview

There were a couple of things going on in the news this Sunday-5/17/15. ISIS leader Abu Sayyaf was allegedly killed. There was, of course, the ongoing questions about the Amtrak wreckage.

I say “allegedly” when referring to Sayyaf for two reasons. First, there’s no proof whoever this guy is that he was murdered. And second, soon enough we’ll get the true story cause if yon reader does know this, the current administration lies.

Indeed many of the comments on this Sunday’s political talk shows obliquely asked about this guy, who he was…..between the lines, as it were, fishing for more information.

Cause I’m not convinced those ISIS thugs have any kind of leader. Though I’ll allow that they call Sayyaf “the accountant” in that he is in charge of selling oil and stuff.

ISIS sells oil?

As for the Amtrak thing, a couple of shows had the Czar of Transportation on He assured us that the Transportation bureaucrats would look at every angle, will not assert any cause right now but will look into every possibility.

Or something.

Come on. He shoulda mailed that in.

Fox News Sunday-Best guest of the week-Marco Rubio

Official PortraitNow I have issues with Marco Rubio. Many of us Tea Party types feel he betrayed us when he endorsed a major overhaul of immigration despite very rancorous objections to it.

The problem with this immigration matter, if I have to tell the Republicans everything, is that….first, we all have doors. We have fences and gates and locks. We don’t want our country constantly leaving the gate opened at our southern border, us idiots out here in la-la land what carry this country on our backs.

Of course the Blue Blood elites would yell back that if we don’t get cheap labor into this country a chicken would cost $10.00 and a hamburger $15.00. Then we’d be screaming and yelling about the cost of everything without our illegal immigrants doing these jobs that Americans would not do except for a huge wage. I’d clean guts out of chickens for….say…at least $50 an hour. George Dubya used to call them jobs “Americans won’t do”. I tell Dubya that America sure will do those jobs but for a big cost.

Point being this country needs to have a national conversation about our immigration policies and that would be painful. Because Americans don’t think much of this immigration methodology of allowing the country to be flooded with illegals until we cry Uncle and amnesty them all. Then the government continues to allow them to flood in and…well it’s fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you.

Rubio was asked by Wallace why he backed down from his efforts to fix the immigration system and I admired how forthrightly Rubio answered.

“Because the votes are not there,” Rubio said. He went on to explain that he now understands the concern of the American people over the immigration issue. While I might not be convinced that Rubio is ready to admit that the political class screwed up this country’s immigration system, if one could call it a system. I do think Rubio has been infused with a large dose of common sense as if the bill won’t pass, it won’t pass.

Rubio then answered very pointed questions about the Iraq war and would he have done it like Dubya. Knowing, of course, what we know now.

I thought Rubio handled the question quite well although Chris Wallace was a bit obnoxious with his phrasing of the question. Rubio said that he would, of course, had taken the same course as President W. Bush with all that he knew at the time and, of course again, with the Senate (including Hillary Clinton too voting for war in Iraq) voting for the invasion.

Rubio carried it a step further and so too should all the Republican candidates. Marco pointed out, truthfully, that Saddam Hussein was NOT a good man, that he tormented his own people, he sponsored Al Queda…indeed it was his own people who hung the guy.

I’d add let’s not forget those very costly flyovers America had to do to ensure the safety of the Kurds in the north….every day at a danger to our military.

As an aside, I chanced to hear dipwad Donald Trump this morning on Fox and Friends and he lambasted Rubio all to hell, shouting how on earth could Rubio justify the invasion of Iraq…yada, yada.

Donald Trump…he ain’t the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Meet the Press-Rand Paul Interview

Rand Paul was interviewed on Meet the Press and he did fine. Paul countered a charge of stupidity for the invasion of Iraq with a challenge to Hillary as to why America overthrew the Libyan government and was that such a good move.

This Week with George Steponallofus-he apologizes but we got more scoop on the dupe.

Seems that author Schweitzer has some more interesting information about the very honest, very very honest, George Stephanopoulos. Turns out the guy not only forked over $75,000 in access fees, seems George is also a board member of the Clinton Group, Inc.

5.17.15steponallofus

I don’t know what the Clinton Group, inc does but it has some connection to the “charity” and again, it didn’t occur to Seponallofus that this was a conflict of interest?

Stephanopoulos did give an apology on air but it was lame….just lame.

Face the Nation-Worst Guest of the week-Bernie Sanders

Bernie Sanders wins the prize worst guest of the week. Sanders will always win that prize cause the guy is a communist always complaining about “corporate greed”.

My Take

I think George Stephanopoulos is not going to last long. For while anyone with a couple of brain cells could have ascertained that he should not have been hired by ABC to begin with, it’s now undeniable that the guy is in deep where he shouldn’t be to try and pass himself off as an impartial purveyor of the news.

I think Bernie Sanders is putting himself out there because he thinks Hillary might not make it. In that event Sanders wants to be ready to fill the void.

I think Marco Rubio is doing a pretty good job of re-inventing himself and if he can engage in a national dialogue with our immigration issues he could win a nomination.

I should mention that Governor Scott Walker was on Face the Nation. Here’s another candidate that might make the cut but he too has past immigration concerns.
